On August 16, 2023, a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environment and Climate Change Zh. Kazbekov, participated in an online meeting of the "C5+1" format (Central Asia + USA) on energy and climate change.



Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan also attended the meeting.

The event was chaired by US Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Asia B. Simler and Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Committee of Tajikistan A. Mavlodod.

The participating countries discussed joint solutions to water resource shortages in Central Asia, the development of smart agriculture in the face of climate change, and the gradual transition to renewable energy.

The Uzbek side presented information on programs being implemented in the country to improve the rational management of water resources and regional cooperation with neighboring countries.

Proposals are presented to expand the regional dialogue on the achievement by countries of the goals to reduce emissions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

During the event, the proposal of the Uzbek side to inform the international community about regional initiatives and commitments within the framework of global environmental and climate change measures was supported.
