On February 16, the opening ceremony of the hostel of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage "Silk Road" took place in Samarkand.
The event was attended by the Rector of the University, Aziz Abdukhakimov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Professor, Tongqian Zou, Director of the Samarkand Technical College of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Zhurakul Inoyatov, local and foreign students, and representatives of the media.
During the opening, the guests got acquainted with the projects of the "El Meros" complex and the avenue of "Great Scientists and Thinkers of the East" installed at the college. The minister pointed out that it is necessary to create favorable conditions for tourists.
"In this complex, tourists will be able to get acquainted with national clothes and Uzbek decorative and applied art. They will also have the opportunity to practice the art of their choice. Our goal is to create a comprehensively comfortable place, further develop domestic and foreign tourism, and increase the number of foreign tourists coming to our country", said Aziz Abdukhakimov.
Jurakul Inoyatov noted that the name of the complex, "El Meros", reflects the rich historical heritage of the Uzbek people.
"Our people have rich traditions and cultural heritage. We have great ancestors. Therefore, it is important to attract the attention of tourists to this spiritual wealth", said Zh.Inoyatov.
During the event, the student dormitory was presented in detail. For reference, the building is designed for 400 seats. All conditions are created here for international and local students. Sports sections and a library were also launched. A garden has been created in the courtyard of the hostel.
"A lot of opportunities are being created for young people by the head of our country. The student dormitory being put into operation today is another result of such events. This place is located in a convenient area for young people studying at the university. The building has all the conditions for effective use of free time. It was a unique experience for us, and we will continue to create new amenities", said Aziz Abdukhakimov.
The vice rector of Tongqian Zou University noted that this residence will help students gain more knowledge and be closer to their studies. In turn, foreign students studying at the university noted that they liked the new residence very much.
"I have been in Samarkand for four months. I really liked the education system and the conditions created at the university. The newly built student dormitory is also very beautiful and comfortable in every way. I'm looking forward to moving here. I love Samarkand for its historical and archaeological sites. I want to stay here for another year and enjoy the unique scenery", said Suraya Ahmed, a graduate student at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage from Pakistan.
For information: Currently, about 3,000 students study at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage. The university has created classrooms for Indian, Indonesian, and Chinese languages. There are 1,200 paintings here. The information resource center has 24,371 books (4,801 in Uzbek, 3,680 in Russian, 10,749 in English, and 5,141 in other languages).
