From October 1 to 5, 2023, the Central Asian Youth Eco-Camp will be organized in Samarkand, aimed at developing the Central Asian strategy for promoting sustainable development culture and engaging children and youth in the climate agenda.
The event will involve over 60 leaders of eco-activists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
The event is timed to coincide with COP-28, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Climate Change, which will be held from November 30 to December 12 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Central Asian Eco-Camp is organized with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the International Public Fund "Zamin," UNICEF, UNESCO, UNDP, and FAO.
The main objective of the Central Asian Eco-Camp is to recognize the role of youth in climate action, provide young eco-activists with a platform to propose initiatives and eco-projects, and integrate the youth environmental movement in Central Asia.
The event will include seminars, meetings, and discussions on the Central Asian strategy and roadmap with international experts.
