In July of this year, the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Georgia signed a Program of Action for the development of bilateral cooperation for the years 2023-2024.

In order to strengthen bilateral cooperation, at the invitation of the Georgian side, a delegation from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Tbilisi and held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia.

During the visit, it was noted that the regulatory framework of the Georgian side in the field of environmental impact assessment, air and water resource protection, waste management, environmental monitoring, as well as the implementation of the principle of circular economy, has been revised and implemented based on international standards and norms of the European Union.



Furthermore, during a series of meetings, it was noted that Uzbekistan is interested in studying Georgia's experience in the field of environmental impact assessment, public participation in decision-making on environmental issues, accession to the Aarhus Convention, and the organization of activities of Aarhus Centers.

In addition, there was an exchange of information on the management of protected natural areas and the development of eco-tourism, as well as the study of Georgia's experience in organizing tourist services in buffer zones of protected natural areas.

As a result of the visit, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation and organize joint educational seminars and training programs to enhance the qualifications of personnel.
