The Republican working group headed by the head of the department of the Committee of Tourism under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan M. Khayitova, together with representatives of ministries and departments, studied tourist sites in Beruniy, Ellikkala, Muynak, Kungirat, Takhtakupyr, Chimbay and Khodjeyli districts and in the city of Nukus in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The study was organized to ensure the implementation of the relevant Cabinet of Ministers' assignment of September 5, 2023.
During the event, cultural heritage sites, pilgrimage sites, hotels, sanatoriums and recreation areas, sports and health facilities, mass demonstration sites, markets, as well as railway stations and bus stations were studied for compliance with sanitary standards.
Also, in accordance with the assignments within the framework of the education reform strategy "Uzbekistan-2030", conditions for providing clean drinking water and modern sanitary and hygienic infrastructure were studied in several secondary schools.
As a result of the four-day study, a number of shortcomings were found in the above-mentioned facilities, in particular, non-compliance with sanitary and hygienic conditions, and technical and fire safety. It was also found that these facilities do not have the necessary conditions for people with disabilities and parents with young children.
As a result of the research, responsible persons were given tasks to eliminate deficiencies.
For information: In accordance with the instructions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 5, 2023, it is planned to implement a “sanitary revolution” in all tourist and demonstration sites of the republic (cultural heritage sites, places of pilgrimage, tourist areas, hotels, sanatoriums and recreation areas, sports health facilities, public places, parks, and markets) train stations and bus stations.
