The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change is carrying out systematic work to protect water, land resources and subsoil.

It should be noted that the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 7, 2022 “On additional measures to protect and streamline the rational use of groundwater resources” identified territories with a declining groundwater level of 5 meters, where a moratorium on drilling wells and the use of groundwater was introduced (Navoi, Samarkand, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Andijan, Namangan, Fergana regions).

In addition, the Ministry is implementing a series of measures to control the construction and reconstruction of local treatment facilities at industrial enterprises in 2023, reduce the negative impact of the discharge of polluted wastewater on natural objects, and eliminate sources of pollution in water protection zones of major rivers.

In particular, measures have been approved for the construction and reconstruction of local treatment facilities at enterprises that generate production wastewater that exceeds the norm. In particular, local treatment facilities are being restored at 3 enterprises in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 6 in Andijan, 2 in Bukhara, 7 in Navoi, 6 in Namangan, 8 in Samarkand, 8 in Syrdarya, 4 in Surkhandarya, 13 in Tashkent and 4 in Khorezm region and 7 in Tashkent city.

As a result, the daily discharge of 73.2 thousand cubic meters of untreated wastewater into the environment is prevented, or an annual discharge of 21.9 million cubic meters, which improves the quality of water in open water bodies.
