On August 22, the British Management University in Tashkent hosted Eco Day with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program, which brought together more than 150 adults and children who care about environmental issues and protection.

The event featured performances, an interactive masterclass, games, and an exhibition of local sustainable brands.

At the opening of Eco Day, the rector of the university Conrad Ozog, and Kamola Azimova, a teacher and head of the Career Center and Corporate Relations at the British Management University in Tashkent, gave welcoming remarks.

"As a university, we believe it is necessary to support the sustainable development of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This year, we held a competition for sustainable projects among schoolchildren in Tashkent, in which environmental initiatives took a special place. In the upcoming academic year, we plan to scale it up so that even more students pay attention to these issues and think about their solutions. In addition, we have launched a new faculty of Economics and Sustainable Development, where teachers with international experience will prepare specialists in this field. Today's Eco Day is the start of a series of events dedicated to ecology, one of the most important aspects of sustainable development. At future events, we will focus on other goals that cannot be ignored," said Conrad Ozog.

As part of the event, young guests participated in an immersive performance with the author of the "Time of Heroes" book series, Madina Muminova, and read her book on environmental issues, "Doctor Chikhakh and His Terrible Secret."

Adult participants attended a master class by Sherzod Kattakhodjaev, Project Manager of the UN Development Program, where he talked about ways to minimize carbon footprint in buildings with almost zero energy consumption, and a lecture on the relationship between psychology and climate change by Gulnara Bogdalova, a psychologist at the British Management University in Tashkent.

At the end of the Eco Day program, an interactive master class was held by ecoactivist Mutabar Khushvaktova, who shared her thoughts on how to be eco-friendly every day.
