Press conferences on the topic “Work in progress to implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-81 and the Decree of the President No. PO-171 dated May 31, 2023 on the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change”

On July 27, 2023, a press conference was held in the building of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration on the topic “Work in progress to implement Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-81 and Presidential Decree No. PO-171 dated May 31, 2023 on the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change”.



The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Obidjon Kudratov, Head of the Department for Supervision of Enforcement of Legislation in the Field of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Forestry of the Prosecutor General's Office Uktam Utaev, the Director of the Forestry Agency, Golibjon Kurbonov, the Acting Director of the Hydrometeorological Service Agency, Firuz Safarov, heads of departments and divisions of the ministry, heads of territorial departments, ecology specialists, as well as representatives of the media and bloggers.

At the event, Obidjon Kudratov spoke about the content and ongoing work on the implementation of Presidential Decree No. UP-81 and Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PО-171 dated May 31, 2023 on the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

“Under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, comprehensive measures are being taken in our country to ensure environmental safety, improve the situation in this area, prevent the impact of harmful emissions on human health, rational use of natural resources, and create favorable conditions for improving the quality of sanitary and environmental conditions.



In accordance with this Decree and Resolution, the creation of a modern mechanism for environmental monitoring based on digital technologies is envisaged, further development of environmental culture, preservation of biodiversity and radical improvement of the environmental situation through regulation of waste management, greening and implementation of new procedures for the protection of forest plantations ,” said O. Kudratov.



The representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office Uktam Utaev informed the audience about the joint measures taken to prevent violations of legislation in the field of ecology, environmental protection and forestry, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-81 and Resolution No. PP-171 dated May 31, 2023.

Uktam Utayev also emphasized that at the initiative of the ministry, drastic measures have been taken against violations in the field of ecology.

During the event, detailed answers to questions from journalists and bloggers were given.

At the end of the event, Obidjon Kudratov expressed gratitude to media representatives and bloggers, noting that they play a significant role in the development of the sphere.                                                           

For reference: According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to effectively organize the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change," penalties for environmental offenses are being strengthened. In particular:
- Violations related to harm to ecology and the environment, destruction or damage to objects of animal and plant life, are classified as serious offenses;
- The amount of administrative fines for violating the moratorium on cutting valuable tree species and shrubs not included in the state forest fund has increased by 5 times;

- The amount of compensation for damage caused to wildlife due to illegal hunting of animals listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan has increased by 10 times;
- The amount of compensation for damage caused to the plant world has increased by 5 times;
- The size of administrative fines for violating nature protection requirements for the collection, transportation, placement, disposal, storage, processing and sale of industrial, household and other waste, as well as for the discharge of solid household and construction waste in unauthorized places, and the discharge of liquid household waste has been increased by 10 times. 
The aim is to prevent various violations, such as burying waste in unmarked areas, cutting down trees, hunting rare animals listed in the Red Book, and illegal destruction of plants.
