The inspection of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, together with the Department of Internal Affairs of the city of Tashkent, conducted another raid.

This raid  was held in order to ensure the implementation of Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 14, "On measures to streamline the extraction of non-metallic materials in reservoirs".

During the raid conducted on the Chirchik River flowing through the territory of the "Jarboshi mahalla" in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent city, the fact of illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture by a group of citizens using excavators and trucks was established. As a result, it became known that 139 million sums worth of damage was caused to nature.

A fine of 91 million sums was imposed on 9 people under Part 1 of Article 70-1 of the AC. Violators will pay a total of 230 million sums. Also, the equipment was temporarily placed in a parking lot.

For information: according to Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 14, "On measures to streamline the extraction of non-metallic materials in reservoirs", from May 1, 2024, an indefinite moratorium on the extraction of non-metallic materials was introduced in the beds of the Chirchik, Sanzar, Zarafshan, Naryn, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and Syrdarya rivers. The Ministry of Ecology, together with partner organizations, conducts regular raids to combat illegal extraction of sand and gravel.
