Employees of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, together with the customs service of International Airport named after the I.Karimov in Tashkent, on April 4, 2019, prevented from importing (import) by a citizen of Saudi Arabia of two birds (falcons) from the United Arab Emirates ) by breaking licensing procedures rules in the field of international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora (CITES).

In the accordance with the Regulations on the procedure for passing permissive procedures in the field of international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora (CITES), approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 20.10.2014 No. 290, import, export, re-export of any type animals included in Annexes I, II, III of the Convention, without permission, or with a false permission that is considered invalid, is an illegal not an offense.

Together with the imported birds, a foreign citizen brought traps for catching wild birds. Probably, the intended the purpose of importing birds to the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan was holding falconry.

Currently birds are temporarily seized and transferred for keeping in a specialized nursery before making a decision on their future fate by the CITES Administrative Authority in the Republic of Uzbekistan (the State Committee on Ecology of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

The issue of bringing a foreign citizen to responsibility in the accordance with the procedure established by law is being resolved.
