On April 22–23, the Central Asian University of Environment and Climate Change (Green University) under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change hosted an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "The impact of the drying of the Aral Sea on the environment".

The event was organized by the Scientific Research Institute of Environment and Environmental Technologies at Green University, the Scientific Research Institute of Forestry, and the Tashkent Hydrometeorological Technical College. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology Zhusipbek Kazbekov, Rector of Green University Jasur Salikhov, Project Manager of the Forestry Research Institute, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Zinovy Novitsky, head of the project implementation agency of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea Vadim Sokolov, and foreign and local experts.

The conference focused on issues such as solving important environmental problems arising from the drying up of the Aral Sea and, in particular, the conservation of biological diversity in the area. Zinovy Novitsky stressed that the creation of forest plantations plays a great role in the restoration of the drained bottom of the Aral Sea, and Vadim Sokolov focused on the issues of studying changes in the aquatic ecosystems of the Southern Aral Sea. At the same time, the issues of assessing the sources of air pollution and its impact on people and studying changes in the aquatic ecosystems of the Southern Aral Bay were also on the agenda.

In addition, the event discussed topics such as assessing the impact of dust coming from the Aral Sea as a result of climate change, the impact of anthropogenic factors on geoecology in the Aral Sea, the creation of protective plantations using environmental laser technologies in areas formed as a result of the drying of the Aral Sea, and the impact of climate change on agrometeorological conditions in the Southern Aral Sea and desert areas. districts of Kyzylkum.

At the same time, it was noted that the introduction of drip irrigation technologies in the Aral Sea region has many advantages.

The purpose of the conference is to mitigate the negative consequences of the ecological crisis caused by the drying up of the Aral Sea, preserve biological diversity in the territory, and restore ecosystems.
