Within the framework of the CMS COP14 international conference, a "Green Public Park – COP14" was created in the Yangizh Mahalla of the Samarkand district.

Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abdukhakimov, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, Amy Frenkel, representatives of international delegations, and foreign guests planted seedlings of trees such as ash, maple, Japanese sophora, Crimean pine, and other species in the garden.

"Planting tree seedlings has become a good tradition in our country. At every international event, of course, we attract foreign guests to plant trees. As a result, many parks and squares are being built, – Aziz Abdukhakimov said. – COP14 Green Public Park covers an area of 4.5 hectares, where the results of agreements reached during the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Animals and other information will be posted. The most important thing is that this park serves to purify the air", added the minister.

In total, 2,500 different trees have been planted in the park. Shops, parking, and chess fields will also be built here. It is assumed that the park will become a place of cultural recreation that is convenient for residents and guests of the region.

For information: Earlier, within the framework of the 21st session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the "CRIC-21 Green Park" was created in Samarkand.
