Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan have joined the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia.

The signing ceremony took place on February 11 during the session of CMS COP14, "Transboundary and regional cooperation for the conservation of migratory species in Central Asia".

The document was signed by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aziz Abdukhakimov; the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Melis Turgunbayev; and the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurken Sharbiyev.

"The memorandum provides for the elimination of obstacles to the migration of wild animals and the creation of favorable conditions for their migration from one territory to another. This will protect migrating animals and, thus, preserve biodiversity. In addition, it will strengthen the unity of the Central Asian countries in this direction", said Aziz Abdukhakimov.
