The fine for causing harm to endangered plants has been increased by 5 times, while for causing harm to animals listed in Uzbekistan's Red Book, it has been increased by 10 times.
Amendments have been made to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 20, 2014, No. 290, "On the Regulation of the Use of Biological Resources and the Procedure for Permitting Procedures in the Field of Nature Management."
The document aims to tighten legal measures of responsibility for non-compliance with legislation in the field of wildlife and plant conservation.
According to the decision, the fine for damaging plants listed in Uzbekistan's Red Book has been increased by 5 times. In this case, the amount of damage is calculated based on the following coefficients (per plant):
— Species under the threat of extinction - 10 BRV (3.4 million soums);
— Rare species - 4 BRV (1.36 million soums );
— Endangered species - 2.5 BRV (850,000 soums ).
The fine for causing harm to animals has also been increased by 10 times. For example, now a resident of Uzbekistan will be charged a fee 3000 times the BRV (1 billion 20 million soums) for causing harm to a single snow leopard, while foreigners and legal entities will be fined 400,000 US dollars.
This decision has been published in the national database of legal documents and came into effect on December 11, 2023.
