A presentation of the Aral Sea Trust Fund on transforming the Aral Sea region into a climate-resilient area took place at the Uzbekistan Pavilion during the Dubai Expo exhibition. The event was held with the support of the United Nations Permanent Coordination Office and the Ministry of Ecology, Environment, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF), Dr. Juliette Biao Koudenoukpo, Specialist at the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office in Uzbekistan, Rusyan Jill Mamit, First Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection , and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Obidjon Kudratov, Director of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea at the Ministry of Ecology, and Bahytzhan Khabibullaev, Representative of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jahongir Nizomiddinov, and others.

The event, organized within the framework of the COP28 climate forum, prioritized practical and positive solutions of the country's government that contribute to improving the climate and economy of Uzbekistan and the entire Central Asia region.

The goal of the event was to draw the attention of global climate leaders to the devastating consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea and to increase climate advocates' awareness of key activities conducted by the Aral Sea Trust Fund and its partners. It was emphasized that engaging stakeholders in climate improvement activities is crucial for the sustainable development of the Aral Sea region in Uzbekistan.

The presentation included a photo and video exhibition showcasing the profound consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy. The exhibition displayed the results achieved by the Aral Sea Trust Fund and the Government of Uzbekistan. Efforts and prospects were also discussed as a unified platform for mitigating the severe consequences of the environmental catastrophe.
